Geographic Situation 

          Thailand, centrally located in the Indochinese Peninsula, in the heart of Southeast Asian mainland, .between 5 40 to 20 30 N latitude and from East 97 70 to 105 45 longitude. The total area of the country is approximately 513,115 km2, stretching some 1,620 km from north to south and 775 km at the greatest breadth from east to west.
          The "golden axe" shape, in fact, provides over 2,705 kilometers of shoreline, facing both the Pacific and Indian oceans, with several hundred islands. The seacoast bordering the Gulf of Thailand is 1,840 kilometers long; that bordering the Andaman Sea is 865 kilometers long. There are basic physical differences and variations in resources between these two coastlines.                                          
          The boundaries of Thailand with adjacent areas are Laos and Myanmar to the north, Laos, Cambodia and the Gulf of Thailand to the east, Myanmar and the Andaman Sea to the west and Malaysia to the south
