The quality of the land in Thailand is rather low. Its fertility is in middle or low level. Land management is the essential method to prevent soil deterioration and a decrease in crop production
Land Development Department has suggested two ways to solve the problem which are as the following : .
          - Fertilizer application such as the chemical fertilizer, the compost and the animal manure.
          - Planting leguminous crops for soil reclamation such as mungbean, Jackbean, Sesbania rostrata. Plant it before growing rice in order to add organic matter to the soil.          Pinto, one kind of leguminous crops, can be planted for soil reclamation and soil and water conservation. Its commercial name is "Amarillo" and it is found in the central part of Brazil. Its characteristic is like peanut but its leaves are smaller. Pinto can be grown in various types of soil and it is tolerant. Its flowers are yellow suitable for planting in the garden or planting as the lawn. It can be used as the forage and it is planted to control other weeds.

Planting and maintenance : At the beginning of rainy season, apply seeds 2 kg./rai or leave a plant cutting in soil 1 plant/hole (50x50 cm.). Destroy weeds 1-2 months. It starts blooming a month after its growth. Pinto 's blooming period is between August-September. Its seed is covered by its pod like the peanut but there is only a seed in each pod. Its depth where its seeds can be found is 5-10 cm. from the soil surface.

Seeds harvest : For the clay like Pakchong series, dig down 10 cm. and soak it in the water about 15 minutes. Sift it and clean the seeds. Dry them out 3 days and keep them. For sandy loam, dig the soil and take it to be sifted without soaking it in the water. The suitable period for seeds harvest is between January-March or 8 months after planting.

Increased planting : Plant a plant cutting in a bag 1-2 months and bring it to plant in specific area.
